I. Eligibility
i. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with a valid foreign passport and be in good health and must abide by Chinese laws and regulations and the university’s regulations;
ii.Be a bachelor’s degree holder when applying for master’s programs; be a master’s degree holder when applying for doctoral programs;
iii.Applicants’ academic merits, research capability and language ability must meet the admission requirements of the chosen program;
II.Application and Admission Procedure
Jinan University adopts an application & verification system through which international postgraduate students are admitted. Applicants shall apply online and then deliver application documents as required by Jinan University. Had application documents been verified, they could participate in second-round examination. Those who excel in reexamination will be admitted tentatively.
i. Online Application
Applicants to be enrolled in September, 2016 shall apply from January 1st, 2016 to March 30th, 2016.
ii.Application Documents
1.A brief introduction on study and academic research (since undergraduate study)；
2. Academic transcripts of all undergraduate or postgraduate courses (notarized photocopy in Chinese or English);
3. A full text of bachelor’s or master’s degree thesis (previous graduates) or the abstract of the thesis (fresh graduates)；
4. A representative academic paper you have published.
5. Personal statement in Chinese (including research proposal), about 800 words for master’s degree applicant and about 1500 words for doctor’s degree applicants. The personal statement shall include personal study, working experience, academic research results, research plan for master or doctoral degree and personal development objectives after graduation, etc;
6. Notarized highest diploma (original in Chinese or English). Fresh graduates provide the certificate of expected graduation;
7. Two recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors (or equivalent staff). The originals shall be in Chinese or English (with the referrer’s signature);
8. Originals of language (Chinese or English) examination transcripts or notarized copies:
1). Applicants who apply for Chinese-taught courses have to provide valid HSK Certificate (Score 190 or above in New HSK4 or HSK5). If you have got a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree from Chinese universities and the courses you selected are taught in Chinese, you don’t need to summit the HSK certificate. Scholarship recipients of Chinese-taught programs without adequate Chinese language proficiency must take Chinese language training courses for one to two years in College of Chinese Language and Culture of Jinan University after enrollment;
2). Non-English speaking Applicants who apply for English-taught courses have to submit the TOFEL certificate (Score 90 or above) or IELTS certificate (Score 6.5 or above). SIMBA and China Studies program at our University are all taught in English.
9. Print the application form after online registration (with photo attached and applicant’s signature )
iii.Application Deadline and Verification
1. Application documents are to be numbered in order. The electronic version of application documents shall be uploaded to website of registration and the printed version of application documents shall be mailed to Admission Office of Graduate School of Jinan University by March 30th. The original copies of application documents shall be authentic. Had application documents been proved faked, applicants will be disqualified immediately.
2. Application documents will be verified by an expert panel. Those who have passed the review of the Panel will participate in the interview arranged by the college in the second half of April. Applicants may be interviewed via Skype according to the actual situation.
iv.Enrollment
1. Admission Office of Graduate School of Jinan University will publicize the list of admission by the end of June, 2016 after the verification and interview.
2. Letter of Admission, Visa Application Form and other documents will be sent byAdmission Office of Graduate School of Jinan University by the end of July, 2016.
III.Duration, Tuition and Scholarship Coverage
i. Duration and Tuition
1. 3 years for a Doctor Degree not exceeding 7 years and 2-3 years for a Master Degree not exceeding 5 years.
2. Tuition will be charged according to duration. See the notice of Finance Department of Jinan University for the standard.
ii.Scholarship Application
1. Chinese Government Scholarship Program
It is established by MOE in accordance with educational exchange agreements or MOUs (memorandum of understanding) signed between Chinese government and governments of other countries, organizations, education institutions and relevant international organizations to provide both full scholarships and partial scholarships. Applicants shall apply to China Scholarship Council (http://www.csc.edu.cn/Laihua/scholarshipen.aspx) for the scholarship through dispatching authorities, institutions or Chinese embassies (or General Consulates) in their home countries.
2. Chinese Government Special Scholarship Program (University Postgraduate Program, Cooperative Program with Provinces and Autonomous Regions, Sino-US Cultural Exchange Program Scholarship).
3. Confucius Institute Scholarship
It is set up by Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban to sponsor international students to study for a master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) in Chinese universities. Applicants shall apply to Confucius Institute Headquarters (http://cis.chinese.cn/) for scholarship through Confucius Institute (independently set-up Confucius Classrooms), overseas Chinese test centers, educational and cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates). 4. Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship
It is set up by Guangdong Provincial Government to award foreign full-time students with excellent school performances at higher educational institutions in Guangdong. There are scholarships for international students currently studying at Jinan University and newly enrolled by Jinan University. Financial Support: RMB 30,000 for doctoral students; RMB 20,000 for master students;

IV.Accommodation
On-campus accommodation is provided for full-time postgraduate students, which is about RMB 4000 per year. Accommodation fee will be adjusted appropriately according to the arrangement of dormitories.
V. Graduation &Degree Awarding
Scholarship recipients who complete all the courses within the prescribed length of schooling and meet all the requirements for graduation will be granted with a Master's degree or a Doctoral degree and Certificates of Graduation of Jinan University.
